Resignation

October 30th, 2007 by Wenslauw

Tomorrow is the last day of October. I put my resignation letter on my manager’s desk a while ago, but I have not had a response yet. I guess I had better check up on it.

I cannot wait until it is January. I have had it with my current job. It feels like I have done not much more than bug fixing in the last year. It is not the work, it is also the organisation. This afternoon I have been trying to find out who our hr managers are, but nobody could tell me.

I am also looking forward to see what my new company is like. It looks like a big improvement.

It is not easy to find an apartment in/around Utrecht, but I get the idea it was harder a few years ago. The real estate lady told me that these days apartments are not already taken even before they are built.

It still is not very easy to find something affordable though. In Utrecht it seems to be nearly impossible to get a decent size apartment in good condition below 1200 euros a month. On the edge of the city you can get a brand new apartment for around 900 euros a month.

I visited two apartments in Leidsche Rijn. They look pretty good and advanced in their features, compared to the old shitty (but reasonably sized) apartment I live in now. The living rooms are big and the kitchens have all the necessary appliances (fridge, freezer, combi microwave and cooking facilities) pre-installed. I also like the outside. Quite a modern building with lots of wood and concrete. The combination looks quite nice. I will look at some more apartments soon.

On top of that I have to sell my little blue car. From January I will first have a rental car and then a lease car. This is great, because I will have some money for decorating the new place (and a Canon EOS 40D?), but the car does need some work before I can sell it. It is still on its first set of wheels (with 106.000km on the clock) and it is about time for a visit to the garage. I am afraid it will cost me quite a bit. The suspension on the right back wheel makes odd sounds sometimes and under the hood a chain needs to be replaced, which is quite a costly job.
