Nobu
After a long day of working, driving and hauling stuff for the floor in my new place, I finally was able to sit down, eat a little and drink a beer. I watched a little tv and ran into BBC World, a channel I generally only watch on holiday as I didn’t have it in my old town. This evening they showed an item on Nobuyuki Matsuhisa. The owner and chef of a range of upscale restaurant all over the world. Nice to see him on tv. I have only eaten at the Nobu next door restaurant in Tribeca, New York. I must say it had the best Japanese food I ever had outside of Japan. I learned some interesting facts. For example that he started his first restaurant in Alaska, which sounds quite odd. His business partner and Tribeca man, Rober de Niro, was there too. He looked slightly drunk when he was interviewed. Having only had a vague microwave meal and a not very tasty quiche, I feel very hungry now…
