Got a camera

March 6th, 2008 by Wenslauw

I’m a bit of a git. I have to admit it. Today I bought a camera and it’s not the 40D. I didn’t get that one as there are some things I don’t like about it. The big but low resolution LCD for example. The fact there is no high quality 17-55mm f/2.8 L lens available and that the L lenses are all really for full frame cameras. So I got a consumer model instead of a ‘prosumer’… The 400D again… With an EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS this time. Nice to have IS this time. This improved lens gives the EF-S 17-55mm f/2.8 a run for its money in quite a few areas. So it ’s a nice budget system for getting to know what I want and what I need.

I will post some images soon, but first the weather will have to clear up.

I looked at the price of this thing, and as far as I am concerned, any camera that costs more than 300 euro is no longer a “consumer” model, no matter what the manufacturers and the photography magazines say. Oh, and colour me jealous.

Ok, stand still while I colour you. Do you prefer a particular colour?

    Green. (Duh.)
